Founders: 

Kacey Jeniene Kroeger, CNP – I believe that living life to the fullest makes life worth living. I graduated from the University of San Diego with a degree in Sociology through the American Humanics Program (the study of non-profit management) and a Minor in Leadership. Two years later I graduated from the University of  Washington’s Fundraising Management Program. My community outreach includes serving on the Board of Directors for area non-profits. My careers have included Corporate Fundraising and Marketing for non-profits. I know firsthand how life can change in an instant. In 2001, I had a traumatic brain injury from a fall. The moment of that injury and its long term effects have changed my life forever. I have had to re-learn to breathe, talk, and walk. The kindness and generosity from others is what has given me the strength and ability to not only survive, but to live. I am making it my life’s mission to provide enriching opportunities to everyone, regardless of their limitations. Each person should have the opportunity to see, feel, and enjoy all of life’s experiences. There may be changes, but the world is still filled with possibilities. I, as just one, will encourage all to participate and be Plus One!

Alex Strazzanti, MSW – I have always been inspired by the words of the Dalai Lama, “If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.” I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in Psychology and later a Masters in Social Work. For the majority of my ten years in social services I worked to assist people with developmental and physical disabilities. As the manager of one of the largest Individual Employment Programs in Washington State, I ensured that people with disabilities found and maintained employment throughout King County. In 2003 I changed course and pursued my passion for photography by starting a professional photography business. Two years later, my wife and I opened Oasis Art Gallery in Wallingford to showcase the multitude of talented artists in the Pacific Northwest and make art a part of everyday living. As a strong advocate for art and community, I also serve as the Co-Director of the Wedgwood Art Festival. When I am not working or volunteering I enjoy traveling the world with my wife, Jeannie, and exploring new landscapes and cultures. For me, creating the Plus One Foundation was a very important way to continually add happiness to the world, one person at a time.
